Jean-Michel Blais Signs To Mercury KX

We’re immensely excited to announce that Montreal-based composer and pianist Jean-Michel Blais has joined the Mercury KX family.

Having already developed a strong international footprint, his debut album spent 14 weeks on top of the Canadian Classical chart. He has amassed over 50 million streams, has 1.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and has an active touring schedule across Europe and North America.

Jean-Michel was chosen by Canadian director Xavier Dolan to write the music for his upcoming film ‘Matthias & Maxime’, in official competition for the Palme d’Or, and which receives its world premiere on 22 May at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

We’ll be releasing the official soundtrack to ‘Matthias & Maxime’ later in 2019, with Jean-Michel’s solo album following in 2020.

It is with pride, excitement and happiness that I’m joining Mercury KX / Decca Records family. This union appears to me like an ideal junction of genres – precisely combining classical traditions with alternative and electronic music.
