Ólafur Arnalds today releases new versions of partial and ypsilon, remixed by renowned experimental electronic artist Max Cooper. The original versions of the two tracks feature on Ólafur’s critically acclaimed album re:member, which is out now.
In true Max Cooper style, the remix for partial features a prominent heartbeat, which pulses throughout the track alongside an industrial techno undertone. The video is a profound, and sometimes distressing, portrayal of one of the stars of Ólafur’s incredibly moving videos for his singles re:member and unfold, which touch on elements of masculinity and how men communicate. The footage for the video was directed by Þóra Hilmarsdóttir and given a visual remix by Árni & Kinski.
The remixes are an ingenious collaboration of two great minds. Max Cooper is a London-based producer, with an impressive catalogue of more than 70 original tracks and remixes, including remixes of Hot Chip, Nils Frahm and Au Revoir Simone.
